Biography
Warm, vibrant, and full of energetic nuance, violinist Konstantina Maimari brings a distinctive voice to the stage. Equally at home with beloved classics and lesser-known gems, she has a particular passion for the music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as contemporary repertoire.
Konstantina’s performances have taken her across Europe, with appearances in Cyprus, Greece, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. She has performed in prestigious venues such as Buckingham Palace (London), Queen’s Hall(Edinburgh), and the Presidential Palace (Cyprus). Her festival and concert series appearances include Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Rosin Chamber Music Festival, Kypria International Festival, Mondays at One, and the Pharos Arts Foundation Concert Series. As a soloist, she has collaborated with leading ensembles including the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Konstantina earned her Master’s degree under Maya Iwabuchi and her Bachelor’s degree under Katie Hull. She has performed in orchestral projects with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ensemble, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Chamber Orchestra, and the Brodsky Quartet, working under the baton of conductors such as Pablo Heras-Casado, Jessica Cottis, Christian Kluxen, and Alpesh Chauhan. Her artistic development has been further shaped through masterclasses with musicians including Joseph Swensen, Lutsia Ibragimova, Leland Chen, Simon James, and Simos Papanas.
Konstantina’s musical journey began in her native Cyprus, where she first studied piano with her mother and violin with her uncle. Mentorship from Maria Koukou, Pavlos Koukos, Laura Samuel, Wolfgang Schroeder, and Edward Cohen was instrumental in shaping her path. At just 15, she was appointed Concertmaster of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra.
A committed educator, Konstantina teaches privately and serves as a Deputy Tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors, in addition to roles with the East Dunbartonshire and Midlothian Councils, Sistema Cyprus and Sistema Scotland. She is a recipient of awards and scholarships from the Nikolas Economou Foundation, the Hope Scott Trust, and the Musical Workshop of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
Konstantina performs on a fine copy of a 1774 G.B. Guadagnini (Turin) violin, crafted by Stepan Soultanian. When she is not performing or teaching, she finds inspiration in nature and in art, often spending time outdoors or visiting museums.
