🎹 Piano Lessons
Piano was my second instrument at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I received formal training alongside my principal violin studies.
My piano education included conservatoire performance examinations and the ABRSM Diploma in Performance. I also had the opportunity to study piano with Edward Cohen, further developing my understanding of piano performance, interpretation and musicianship.
I teach piano with an emphasis on developing strong foundations while helping students become confident and expressive musicians.
Lessons can include:
✓ Piano technique and coordination
✓ Music reading and sight-reading
✓ Rhythm and musical understanding
✓ Repertoire and interpretation
✓ Musical expression and performance
✓ Ear training and musicianship
✓ ABRSM examination preparation
✓ Performance preparation
My experience as both a violinist and pianist allows me to bring a broader understanding of harmony, musical structure and musicianship into my piano teaching.
🎼 My Teaching Approach
Every student is different.
I believe that good teaching begins with understanding the individual student.
Some students want to work towards formal examinations or auditions. Others learn an instrument simply because they love music. Some are beginning from scratch, while others want to overcome a particular technical challenge or take their playing to a higher level.
Whatever your goal, lessons are adapted to your needs, pace and musical interests.
✓ Strong Foundations
Good technique gives you freedom. I help students develop healthy and reliable technical habits from the beginning, creating a foundation that allows them to play with greater confidence and ease.
✓ Musical Expression
Learning an instrument is about more than playing the correct notes. I encourage students to listen, experiment and develop their own understanding of the music, with attention to phrasing, tone, rhythm and expression.
✓ Confidence & Independence
My goal is to help students gradually become independent musicians — able to practise effectively, understand what they are playing and approach new music with confidence.
🎓 My Musical Background
I studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where violin was my principal instrument and piano my second instrument.
Alongside my violin studies, I pursued extensive piano training, including conservatoire performance examinations and the ABRSM Diploma in Performance. I also had the opportunity to study piano with Edward Cohen.
Studying both violin and piano has given me a broad perspective on musicianship and performance. It has strengthened my understanding of harmony, musical structure, interpretation and ensemble playing, and continues to shape the way I teach both instruments.
I bring my performance experience and conservatoire training into every lesson, helping students develop not only as instrumentalists but as thoughtful, confident and expressive musicians.
